Launching Elevate 18: A Pilot Program Preparing HS Seniors for Manufacturing Careers

Muskogee is stepping into the future of workforce readiness with the launch of Elevate 18, a new 5-week pilot program designed to prepare high school seniors for success in today’s fast-evolving manufacturing industry.

Kicking off on Wednesday, April 9, Elevate 18 provides hands-on exposure to the tools, technologies, and soft skills students need to thrive in high demand manufacturing careers. Students from Muskogee High School and Hilldale High School will participate in this immersive program, which includes industry tours, technology demonstrations, and real-world career preparation.

Each week, Elevate 18 focuses on a different aspect of manufacturing, including:

  • Overview of Manufacturing – with two facility tours at Georgia Pacific and Advantage Controls to bring concepts to life
  • Safety Awareness – covering essential workplace safety protocols
  • Technology Basics – including conveyor systems, automation, robotics and forklifts.
  • Professional and Soft Skills – with resume building and mock interviews
  • Career Goals and Planning – ending with a job fair on May 7, connecting students directly with local employers

“This pilot program is a direct response to what our local manufacturers have been asking for, career-ready graduates who understand what it takes to work in today’s production environments,” said Crystal Delso, Workforce Development Manager. “We’re building a bridge between the classroom and our local industries, and the response from students and partners has been incredible.”

The Elevate 18 program is supported through strong community partnerships with Indian Capital Technology Center (ICTC) – Muskogee, Georgia Pacific, Advantage Controls, Integrity Staffing, Northeastern State University (NSU), OG&E, Vallourec, and both participating high schools. Additional support has come from the Greater Muskogee Manufacturers Alliance (GMMA), Oklahoma Interpak, and ACME.

Sessions will take place at ICTC and the Robinson Gallery and Event Center at Three Forks Harbor, offering students valuable interaction with industry professionals, as well as a deeper understanding of local career pathways.
